Pregnancy App & Labour Coach
Project details
The challenge:
Redesign the app's home screen to create a modern and visually pleasing interface that is fresh and engaging for the user.
The solution:
Create a simple but engaging experience for users who need to
be coached through contractions during early labour.
Project duration:
10 hour challenge (November 2023)
My role: UI Designer for the Doula app from initial brief to delivery.
Tools: Figma, FigJam, Overflow, Google Workspace, Pen & Paper.
Interactive Prototype
Doula is a pregnancy app which provides audio guidance in the final
phase of pregnancy, for managing pain during contractions.

User Flow
When the app is opened, the home screen provides the user with the
option to start a meditation and start the Contraction Timer.
Users may navigate through the app using the nav bar and burger menu.
Starting a meditation:
1. Voice would be used during mild/moderate contractions,
2. Puff would be used for heavy contractions, and
3. Rest
would be used when contractions are over.

When one of the main buttons is selected, an audio track will play. Tapping
the centre button within the bottom navigation bar will start/stop the Timer.
Pain points:
1. The visual style of the app is outdated and not engaging enough.
2. Users have also reported feeling disconnected from the app and are looking for a more personal and supportive experience.
3. The app is missing a symptom tracker that expectant mothers can use to log their symptoms (Not covered in this project).
